American Camellia Yearbook, 1980, p.171, Reg. No.1614: A medium oxblood red, almost black at petal edge, semi-double to anemone to peony form, C.japonica chance seedling that blooms mid-season to late. Originated by Jon Laird Carvain, Dallas, Texas, USA. The 6 year old seedling first flowered 1976. Size is 9.5 cm across x 7 cm deep with 32-47 petals, 40-75 petaloids, red anthers and sulphur yellow filaments. Plant growth is upright, dense and rapid with dark green leaves, 8 cm x 4.5 cm. |
